I am a coffee lover and absolutetly have to have my fresh brewed coffee everyday. My favorite way to make the perfect cup of coffee is with my Aeropress coffee press (You can read my review here). But living in Florida, sometimes a cold brewed coffee is a great alternative. No need to purchase overpriced cold brew concentrates that are found in the stores these days! Making cold brew concentrate is easier than it sounds, especially using the Aeropress to filter the grounds.
Making Your Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate
For the easiest cold brew coffee concentrate, place 1/3 cup of coarsely ground coffee beans into a container or glass jar. Add 1 1/2 cups of cold water, and gently stir to moisten all of the grounds. Cover the container, and let sit at room temperature for 12 hours. After 12 hours, filter the grounds out of the brew by pressing the mixture through your Aeropress. (Alternatively, you can drip filter through plain paper coffee filters set in a colander over a container. But the Aeropress is much simpler!) Store the concentrate covered in the refrigerator. It will last two weeks. Since it is concentrated, you will want to dilute it with one part coffee concentrate and one part water or milk.
Vietnamese Iced Coffee
Once you have your cold brew coffee concentrate waiting for you in the fridge, it is time to enjoy some craft iced coffee drinks! The simplest is to just pour 1/2 cup of the concentrate over ice and add 1/2 cup water or milk. But if want a truly indulgent iced coffee experience, try Vietnamese Iced Coffee. The secret ingredient is sweetened condensed milk, and it gives an iced coffee a hint of sweetness and a rich flavor. It is very simple to make! Pour 1/2 cup of cold brew coffee concentrate over a glass full of ice. Add 2 Tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk to 1/2 cup of milk. Pour over the cold brew coffee concentrate. Stir, and enjoy!
An Aeropress to Make it Easy
